SYLABL needs YOU! This club only exists when there are students
interested in participating. The functions of this club should, above all,
be FUN, and it is YOUR participation that gets the good times happening. Help your
library stock its shelves with the stuff YOU like--stop by the library to join today!
Want to do more than just membership? Consider becoming a SYLABL
Officer!
Officers: Roles and Responsibilities
- President: In charge of scheduling meetings in collaboration with the club sponsor,
focusing the direction of these meetings, and making contacts in the community for
fundraising projects. Requires excellent organization and people skills.
- Vice President: Serves as the President's "right hand", sharing the responsibilities
described above, and providing an opinion about and a listening ear for the President's
ideas. Requires creativity and diplomacy.
- Secretary: Responsible for keeping detailed records of all items discussed at club
meetings; this is a very important record-keeping position for SYLABL's legal obligations,
since we discuss raising and spending money. Requires excellent note-taking
skills (the ability to listen and write--quickly and legibly--at the same time!)
- Treasurer: Keeps track of SYLABL's income and expenses, and is a money-managing
presence at fundraising functions. Requires a very trustworthy and detail-oriented person
with good math skills.
- Public Relations: Encourages new and continued membership by publicizing the events,
activities, and successes of the club through announcements, fliers, and posters. Requires
lots of enthusiasm, a bit of creativity, and good organizational skills.
